annotate

Make every mark count.

Draw, explain and revise directly on the page.

  • Pen and pencil. Sketch freely, add a quick note, or draw attention to the detail that needs work.
  • Highlight, underline and strike. Mark text by line, with area marking for outlined or vector text.
  • Shapes and linework. Draw lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses, polygons and polylines. Add arcs and splines for curved details.
  • Revision clouds and callouts. Frame a change with a cloud, attach a leader, or add a labelled revision callout.
  • Text that fits the drawing. Edit text boxes and captions on the page. Set fonts, alignment, bold, italic, underline and drawing symbols.
  • Notes with context. Place a note whose tail points back to the drawing detail. Its text reflows as the card changes size.
  • Stamps and signatures. Place review stamps, import a custom stamp, or draw and import a saved signature.
  • Plan symbols, ready to place. Choose from the built-in library of architectural plan symbols and place them at the drawing scale.

measure

Bring scale to the conversation.

Read dimensions, check areas and keep your reference scale visible.

  • Drawing scale and calibration. Choose architectural, engineering or metric scale presets, or calibrate against a known length.
  • Length, area and count. Measure between points, trace an area and count items directly on the drawing.
  • Dimensions you can position. Add dimension lines and move their labels independently. Use custom wording or restore the measured value.
  • A three-point protractor. Pick the first arm, vertex and second arm to place an angle measurement from 0° to 180°.
  • Ortho, grid and object snap. Constrain direction, snap to a drawing-unit grid, or find markup endpoints, midpoints and centres.
  • Rulers and numeric geometry. See scaled rulers and cursor coordinates. Edit position, size, endpoints, length and bearing in Properties.

properties

Set the detail. Keep the style.

A complete Properties pane for the next mark or the current selection.

  • Colour, weight and line style. Set line weight, linetype, opacity, fill and arrowheads. Choose custom CMYK colours for markups.
  • Hatched fills. Use diagonal, crosshatch, horizontal, vertical or grid fills, with adjustable spacing and colour.
  • Styles that stay with each tool. Each tool remembers its own colour, weight, fill, line style, arrowheads and text settings across launches.
  • Match a style across markups. Copy and paste properties or apply the first selected markup’s style to the rest of the selection.
  • Select exactly what you need. Use a marquee, add to a selection, resize with grips, or select markups by type.
  • Arrange without redrawing. Align, distribute, group, rotate, mirror and restack markups. Lock finished objects in place.
  • Markup layers. Name, reorder, hide and lock layers. Move or copy selections between layers and apply properties to a whole layer.

sheets

Build a clearer drawing set.

Collect pages and details in the order the review needs.

  • Organize pages. Rotate, reorder, duplicate and delete pages. Insert blank sheets or pages from another PDF and extract a new document.
  • Layout sheets. Add a matching blank sheet and bring together snapshots, images and markups.
  • Scaled snapshots. Copy a drawing region with its scale, place it as an editable picture and see the scale it reads at when enlarged.
  • Grids and sheet backgrounds. Add a grid in drawing units or a fitted, filled, stretched, tiled or centred background image.
  • Adjust placed images. Change levels, exposure, contrast, colour and sharpness while retaining the original image for later edits.
  • Carry markups across pages. Paste in place, paste on the next page, or place the same selection on a chosen page range.

review

Keep the review moving.

Find, compare and resolve the details that matter.

  • A searchable markup list. Browse comments, page, author, measurement, layer and status in one place. Filter the review as you work.
  • Track review status. Mark items Open, Accepted, Rejected or Completed, with the status attached to the whole markup.
  • Review summaries. Export a PDF report with markup images, comments and status, or a CSV. Include the full review or open items only.
  • Compare pages in colour. Overlay two to four pages in different colours to reveal differences in the linework.
  • Trace reference files. Lay other drawings over the current sheet with separate colour, opacity and visibility controls.
  • Fill PDF forms. Complete text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns. Adjust field text properties and shrink text to fit.
  • Mark and apply redactions. Mark areas for removal, then apply and save. Affected pages become images and lose searchable text; other markups remain editable.

workspace

Room to focus.

Keep your drawing at the centre of a flexible workspace.

  • Four working modes. Move between Read, Annotate, Measure and Organize with dedicated tools for each task.
  • Day, Dawn, Night and Dusk. Choose warm white, morning blue, dark navy or midnight indigo surfaces around your drawing.
  • Multiple documents, separate context. Each tab keeps its own page, zoom, scale, layers, bookmarks and undo history. Reopen a closed tab or save all documents.
  • Find your way through the set. Use the page carousel, document outline, bookmarks and text search to reach the right sheet.
  • Panels that adapt. Show, condense or hide the inspector, open the navigator separately and keep quick properties close to the canvas.
  • A quieter reading view. Hide editing controls, fit the page or its width, and use continuous, single-page or two-page views.
  • Shortcuts for repeated work. Save sequences of commands as named macros with keyboard shortcuts, and repeat your last command.

files

Bring the work in. Send it on.

Import reference material and prepare a copy for the next step.

  • PDFs and images. Open PDFs and image files, start from the clipboard, or drag files and folders into the workspace.
  • ASCII DXF import. Turn supported ASCII DXF geometry into a vector PDF sheet for markup. Drawing units are used when present; DWG is not supported.
  • PDF and image export. Export PDF, PNG, JPEG, TIFF or HEIC. Choose the current page or all pages, resolution and supported format options.
  • DXF export. Export markups as AutoCAD R12 DXF in drawing units or paper points, with optional source vector linework. Source text and placed images are not converted.
  • EPS interchange. Export rendered EPS sheets with embedded PDF data for Annorite. Import Annorite EPS or supported EPS files with bitmap previews.
  • Prepare an exported copy. Flatten markups, reduce PDF size, add an opening password, or remove author names and identifying document metadata.
  • Print and share. Print with markups or share an editable PDF or flattened copy, subject to the document’s permissions.
  • Work alongside protected PDFs. Keep permitted markups in a separate layer file while preserving the protected original. Export, print and page changes follow its permissions.
